  • Recognition of Philanthropy

Sigma Foundation for Nursing’s Heritage Society has more than 400 Fellows who have made an investment in all generations of nurses around the world. Below is a list of the Fellows in the Omicron Epsilon Chapter. Join us in celebrating their philanthropy by recognizing them on 30 November in honor of the namesake of one of the fellowships, Virginia Henderson. We recognize her contributions to nursing on her birthday and we recognize our members' generous Fellowship donation on this special day.

  • Quarterly Service to the Open Door Mission

Omicron Epsilon chapter of Sigma Theta Tau volunteers serve the evening meal at Open Door Mission on approximately a quarterly basis for the months which have a 5th Tuesday, 5-7 pm. Approximately 8 volunteers are needed.

Volunteers go to the Garland Thompson Men's Center located on the Open Door Mission campus at 2750 N 20th Street East (Omaha, 68110). At the corner of Abbott Drive and Locust Street, there is a Budget Rental, turn east onto Locust Street, take the first right (N 20th St East), then take the first left (into the parking lot between the 2 buildings) and park in the back of the lot near the gated area. There is a door near the gated area that has a big sign on it that says "Volunteer Entrance." This is the back door to the Kitchen. Ring the bell and one of the staff will let you in and get you going! They will show you how to register and check in and explain all tasks they ask you to do. You will be standing most of the time, so wear comfortable shoes.

We begin serving at 5:30, so arrive by 5:00 pm or a little earlier. Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes (health regulations). Aprons, gloves and hairnets are provided. If anyone wants to bring a baseball cap to wear instead of a hairnet, they can do that.

Please use the volunteer portal to sign up or contact Dr. Linda Jensen (jensenlinda@clarksoncollege.edu) or (402) 517-5772
as soon as possible for any dates you and your family members can serve. If you are not a Sigma member yet, you are still welcome to help with the serving.

We will serve on the following Tuesday dates:  October 30, January 29, April 30, and July 30
