  • Service to the Open Door Mission

Omicron Epsilon, the Clarkson College chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, is seeking volunteers to serve the evening meal at Open Door Mission on approximately a quarterly basis for the months which have a 5th Tuesday, from 5-7 pm. Approximately 8 volunteers are needed. All Clarkson College students, faculty, and family members are welcome!

Volunteers go to the Garland Thompson Men's Center located on the Open Door Mission campus at 2750 N 20th Street East (Omaha, 68110). At the corner of Abbott Drive and Locust Street, there is a Budget Rental, turn east onto Locust Street, take the first right (N 20th St East), then take the first left (into the parking lot between the 2 buildings) and park in the back of the lot near the gated area. There is a door near the gated area that has a big sign on it that says "Volunteer Entrance." This is the back door to the Kitchen. Ring the bell and one of the staff will let you in and get you going! They will show you how to register and check in and explain all tasks they ask you to do. You will be standing most of the time, so wear comfortable shoes.

We begin serving at 5:30, so arrive by 5:00 pm or a little earlier. Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes (health regulations). Aprons, gloves and hairnets are provided. If anyone wants to bring a baseball cap to wear instead of a hairnet, they can do that.

Please let Dr. Langemeier (langemeierjane@clarksoncollege.edu)  at least one week in advance for any dates you can serve. Omicron Epsilon Members may also sign up using the chapter volunteer portal.
    Service dates are on Tuesdays,
    January 29, 2019; April 30, 2019; July 30, 2019; October 29, 2019; and December 31, 2019
